NIMBUS™Net Diagrams & Information
Entropy is launching the commercial sale of its proprietary NIMBUS™ storm detection technology in December of this year. The first version of the NIMBUS™ technology will be the NIMBUS™4 hand-held product (www.nimbus4.com), a single-source detector capable of detecting storm activity out to distances beyond 300 miles and providing immediate information to the user on storm approach, storm bearing, and a host of real-time data including the rates of cloud-to-cloud, cloud-to-ground, and positive polarity lightning strokes. In addition, the NIMBUS™4 is capable of identifying the high-intensity areas of thunderstorms most likely to produce tornado conditions. This capability will be enhanced in 2016 with the NIMBUS™6, which will be designed to directly detect the electromagnetic signatures of the tornado vortex and offer real-time warning to highly localized areas. Utilizing the patent-pending 4-channel antenna array and direct-to-digital signal conversion,
the NIMBUS™ provides a higher level of accuracy than is currently available in any existing data field.
The NIMBUS™NET system, built around the NIMBUS™20 sensor, offers the capability for extremely accurate local networks to be built that are capable of serving city-scaled regions with a simple system of hardware and software. An important goal of the University Partnership Program is the placement of the first NIMBUS™NET systems at university locations across the country so that data can quickly be collected and analyzed, and the systems can be grown to provide a localized area warning system for severe weather with an accuracy and response capability not currently available. Entropy's partnership with universities can offer both research and educational programs that will enhance the university curriculum and also establish
a localized system that directly benefits the region around the university.
Entropy has established a series of university partnership programs of different levels that will allow the NIMBUS™ technology, both in the form of the NIMBUS™4 hand-held product, and also the NIMBUS™NET system technology to be incorporated into university programs.
